There will be respectable new snow on Friday and Saturday with some good skiing.

A weather front on Friday will move in from the northwest, with heavy snow in the north Cascades and Whistler eventually extending south. The snow level will remain fairly low 2500-3500ft, with continuing snow on Saturday. The snow will taper off by Sunday as the snow level drops to 1500-2000ft. That low snow level means good snow quality and snow piling up on all the lower slopes.

I like Friday at Whistler and Baker, with new snow all day long. Saturday, all ski areas will be good, with new snow from Fridays storm and continuing snowfall much of the day, but mainly south Cascades. I really like Sunday, as the snowfall ends and snow levels lower even more. The groomers have excellent potential.

Here is how the next few days will pan out:

Friday new snow will increase mainly Whistler and Baker early in the day. Then spreading south to Stevens/Mission/ The Summit / Crystal and White by afternoon and evening. Total snow Friday morning to Saturday morning will be 5-10 , with another 3-9 Saturday to early Sunday. The second half of the snowfall late Friday to Saturday will be mainly southward Stevens to White. Oregon will get a good shot too. Hood and Bachelor will get 5-10. The snowfall will move east, but ease up, with Silver Mountain receiving 3-7 of new.

The forecast after this weekend is dry. A large ridge of high pressure will block storms through much of the Western U.S. and BC for the week ahead and maybe longer. However, I am optimistic well have a comeback after the blocking high breaks down after mid December. This will be a powder pause. The rest of the winter will be active. La Nina has never let us down in the Pacific NW.
.............
Whistler will receive periods of snow Friday through early Saturday with a 24 hr total ending Saturday afternoon of 10. Later Saturday and Sunday will be partly sunny. The dry weather will continue all next week

New this year: Both Whistler and Blackcomb are open for the early season to the lower alpine. Lately its been only Whistler before Christmas. BTW: I understand they have eliminated the Port Mann bridge toll. Yeah!!
.................
The Summit is opening this weekend!! Expect new snow with low snow levels. Both day will be good, but I favor Sunday. Check their website for details.
