Hello skiers and snowboarders,
Hope you had a great snow season! Following the forecasts, I cherry-picked some fantastic ski days—but I got skunked a few times too. 😅
I’d call this a good season with variable snowfall. We had a nice early start—I scored nine fine days before Christmas. Snow levels bounced around a bit early for the season. As usual, there were some fine snow cycles with excellent storms and fresh snow. But also a few lackluster weeks with little snow or rising snow levels. Hopefully you worked around the storms or dry spells.
The forecast called for La Niña, which generally favors significant snowfall for the Pacific Northwest. The reality is often more nuanced.
👉 In Washington, Crystal and White Pass came out strong; northern areas saw less.
👉 Eastern WA (49 Degrees North) and Silver Mountain in Idaho were near normal.
👉Oregon was in the bullseye—lots of snow love down there!
It could be argued this didn’t really cross the threshold to La Niña. We were really in neutral territory most of the winter. Neutral has no predictable pattern and can be characterized as normal.
The ski season is nearly done, but Crystal, Whistler, and Bachelor are still spinning lifts. I had a sunny blast at Crystal last Friday—just be cautious of thin coverage. 🌞
LOOKING AHEAD: Next ski season’s snow pattern is unclear at this point. It looks Neural (normal), but don’t make any bets at this point – just make plans to play in the snow!
🎉 Please support our wonderful sponsors – they really make this happen and are good people. Thanks for tuning in and thanks to Michael and Andrea for all their help. And thank YOU for reading and riding with us.
Have a great summer and watch for the first ski season update for the 2025-26 season in September.
Stay cool,
