DAILY DOSE OF DAYDREAM

Powder days with Chelsea Wilde!

Hello Skiers and Snowboarders,

Short-Term Forecast

Get ready!  Coming up is likely the most active snow pattern we’ve seen all winter. Snowpack will increase, while new snow will bury most thin spots and improve overall coverage. Snow surface should be soft, for wonderful skiing. Stevens already had a convergence zone (CZ) fueled 15 plus inches this morning (9th).

Expect several feet (2-5 ft, or more) of new snow in the Cascades this week.

However, with the wind, there will be limited visibility at times – blizzard conditions will be experienced, with strong winds blowing & drifting snow– some lifts and runs may be closed. Obey all closures – with avalanche risk increasing. Ski with a partner inbounds only – people can suffocate with a tumble & burial trapped in deep snow.

Snow levels will remain low 2000-4,000, so snow quality will be good to excellent, but occasionally getting sticky on the lowest slopes.

We will see a series of storms with at least two or three distinct atmospheric river (AR) surges, providing much of the moisture (snow). However, the AR warmth from the west southwest will also nudge the snow level up at times – but not too bad  The AR, coupled with a vigorous low, will cause much of the snow, wind and wild weather late Tuesday and into Thursday. Sometimes ARs can reinforce the low, therefore the wind issues will be noticeable. Another, final AR surge, may last into Friday. I see some clearing over the weekend with a fantastic rejuvenated snowpack. The miracle March is real.

During this extended, high end, storm cycle -- several convergence zones (CZ) will pile snow even higher in the central Cascades (Stevens, The Summit, Crystal), especially later Tuesday and again Thursday.

Wednesday will be the biggest snowfall day this week, when all ski areas will get major snowfall. But before and after Wednesday there will be ongoing snowfall and fantastic powder skiing.

Snow and Weather Summary
