DAILY DOSE OF DAYDREAM
Congratulations! Tom Regney is the winner of the Escape to 49 Degrees contest.
Thank you to 49 Degrees North and the Mistequa Hotel.

Hello Skiers and Snowboarders,
Short-Term Forecast
Snowfall for the 24 hours ending Friday morning will be 2 to 4" for the mid and upper slopes. Then, during the day, snow levels increase, so by the afternoon, most slopes will be receiving rain on Friday. An exception would be the upper slopes of Mt. Baker.
Saturday and early Sunday snow levels will be too high for new snow, so we will expect rain for most areas except Mt. Baker's upper slopes.
Are we stuck with rain all weekend? NO!
Sunday, cold air will move down from the north, and snow levels will slowly drop. Levels will finally drop to 2000' by Sunday evening. Make sure you look at our extended outlook. Snow is coming.
Snow and Weather Summary
Thursday to Friday morning: 2 to 4" for mid to upper slopes
Saturday: Rain except on the upper slopes at Mt. Baker
Sunday: Rain changing to snow for all levels by late afternoon and evening.

Slopes: Elevation General Guidelines
Lower Slopes - Under 400
Mid-Slopes - 4000 to 5500'
Upper-Slopes - Above 5500'
Extended Outlook: Mon. March 9 to Wed. March 11
A March Miracle?
All forecasts keep snow levels at 1000 to 2000' and perhaps lower at times over this period.
Expecting light snow Monday and Tuesday, and both major models bring 8 to 12" for Wednesday.
The maps below depict the European model on the left and the US model on the right. They are both predicting abundant snowfall. One of our subscribers asked, since this ski season so far has not delivered, could we get a March Miracle?
The trend is looking good for this! However, we know this is an extended outlook. Next update: Saturday, March 7.

Interior B.C Resorts
Extended forecasts for many of the areas will bring cold conditions (snow levels at 1000 to 2000') and chances of snow for the week of March 8. Wednesday and Thursday look like the best chances.
Many of the Interior B.C. resorts are located in the Upper Columbia Basin. This basin's snowpack remains at 89% of average as of March 4. Some resorts are above 89%. The Upper Columbia Basin snowpack is certainly much higher than the resorts in Washington and Oregon.

Snowpack and Climate Change
Several subscribers have asked what the impact of climate change and the warming climate has on our snowpack. One study projects a declining snowpack with more winter precipitation falling as rain vs. snow. Another study analyzes data that shows fall snowpack is declining. The other study listed analyzes data that shows there is no trend in the snowpack.
